Kingston is the home of the ‘Kingston Flyer’ vintage steam train. Established in 1878, the Kingston Flyer ran from Kingston to Gore carrying passengers. Gold was discovered in the Wakatipu district in 1862, this bought a need to connect ports by steamships and steam trains.

Just a short 25 minute drive away you'll find the entrance to the very popular Remarkables Ski Field. 35 minutes drive from Kingston you will also reach a township called Frankton; a modern developing town on your way to Queenstown in the Lakes District.
